Organizers of the "No Kings" movement are preparing a new wave of nationwide demonstrations against the actions of the Trump administration, with events planned across southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina on Oct. 18.

According to the organizers' website, the peaceful protests will take place in Williamsburg, Newport News, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Machipongo, Elizabeth City, Edenton and Kitty Hawk.

The first round of "No Kings" protests was held on June 14. Ahead of those events, Gov. Glenn Youngkin said on social media that the National Guard would be on standby in case demonstrations got out of hand. He wrote that Virginians have a sacred right to free speech and peaceful assembly, but that there would be "absolutely zero toleration" for property destruction, looting, vandalism or violence of any kind. No major incidents were reported in connection with the protests in Hampton Roads.

In Williamsburg, the demonstration is scheduled from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Williamsburg/James City County Courthouse. Local candidates and educators are expected to take part, and live music is planned. In Newport News, protesters will gather from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Oyster Point Road, on the side near Tech Center.

The Virginia Beach event will run from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Town Center Fountain Plaza. After rallying at the fountain, participants plan to walk down Bank Street. Several local organizers are expected to speak and lead chants, and local folk musician Jim Newsom is slated to perform.

In Chesapeake, protesters will meet from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 100 Volvo Parkway. Organizers say more than 400 people have registered to attend. On the Eastern Shore, the Machipongo demonstration will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 12168 Lankford Highway.

Across the state line, the Elizabeth City event is set for 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at 222 N Water Street, north of Elizabeth City State University and near the Pasquotank River. In Edenton, protesters will gather from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Chowan County Courthouse, 101 S Broad Street. The Kitty Hawk demonstration, also from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., will be held at 6010 N Croatan Highway.

President Donald Trump previously addressed the June protests in an interview with CBS News. "I don't feel like a king. I have to go through hell to get stuff approved," he said when asked about the demonstrations.
